Andy Gilchrist joins Schofield Sweeney as employment partner

Schofield Sweeney strengthens its employment team with the appointment of multi-award-winning lawyer Andy Gilchrist.

Schofield Sweeney has appointed Andy Gilchrist as a partner in its employment team. The firm continues to expand its expertise with Gilchrist’s arrival from Lupton Fawcett, where he was head of employment.

With over 20 years’ experience, Andy has advised on high-profile employment law cases in the UK and supported international businesses with complex workforce matters. Recently, he counselled a US Fortune 500 company on a senior executive departure, advised a US firm on its UK closure, and worked with several household brands on workforce restructuring.

He joins Schofield Sweeney’s 175-strong workforce, spread across its offices in Leeds, Bradford, and Huddersfield.

“I am delighted to join the employment team at Schofield Sweeney, as it is one of the strongest and best regarded in the region,” said Andy. “I knew it would be a great firm at which to continue my career.”

Andy specialises in a broad range of employment and HR matters, including dismissals, discrimination, redundancies, restructuring, whistleblowing, settlement agreements, and exit management. A highly regarded litigator and negotiator, he represents both employers – including PLCs, owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and charities – as well as individual employees.

Simon Shepherd, partner at Schofield Sweeney, welcomed the appointment, stating, “Andy’s experience and excellent reputation enhance our already strong team and show our commitment to the growth plans we have for the employment team. I’m really pleased to welcome him, and to continue providing support to our existing and future clients.”
